Saturday, September 19, 2009 – 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Eligibility: The Dueling Brushes competition is open to all artists, MAPAPA members and non-members. Paint Annapolis 2009 juried artists and MAPAPA founding artists participating in the Paint Annapolis 2009 event are also eligible to participate in Dueling Brushes. All artists must register for the event on this site.
Registration: You must register by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18th. Your registration fee entitles you to enter your work in the outdoor exhibit/judging event after the timed competition.
- Registration fee is $20 for MAPAPA members.
- Registration fee is $30 for non-MAPAPA members.
Check-in: All entrants must pick up their preprinted label for the Dueling Brushes event. It should list the artist’s name, title of work, medium, and price. This label is proof of registration and must be attached to work in order for it to be exhibited and judged. You can pick up your label at the Paint Annapolis tent next to Market House at the City Dock on Friday, Sept. 18th between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or after 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Set Up: Artists may set up their equipment and choose their sites Saturday morning before the competition officially begins at 9:00 a.m.
Exhibit and Judging: At 12 noon all artists will bring their completed artwork along with their easels to the designated exhibit/judging area at Susan Campbell Park at the tip of City Dock.
Prizes: Winners will be announced at 1:00 p.m. with gift certificates for the top three winners. Artwork must be removed from the exhibit area after the awards ceremony.
Sale of Artwork: Each Dueling Brushes artwork must be clearly marked with a label provided to registered entrants. The label must list the price of the artwork. All sales will be handled directly by the artists and payment details are solely the responsibility of the artist.
Commissions: Artists are strongly encouraged to donate 20 percent of sales to MAPAPA, so that the Dueling Brushes competition can be funded again next year.
