Sponsored by the Sandy Spring Museum and Plein Air Olney
PAINT OUT! The Sandy Spring Museum is inviting plein air artists from the Mid-Atlantic Region to participate in the Sandy Spring Museum Bi-Annual Historic Home Tour. This year’s theme is Homes and History of the Hawlings River Valley. Experience a beautiful area that holds historical significance in the settlement of North Eastern Montgomery County during the 1700 and 1800s. On the first day of painting, the homes and grounds of five historic homes will be open as well as St Luke’s Church, the first Anglican Church established in the area. The second day will be spent painting in Brookeville. There are five places the meandering Hawlings River crosses major roads. For the back packers and campers the Rachael Carson Trail takes you down to the river. At 3:00 artists are invited to submit two paintings for a four-week exhibit at the Museum. Artist packets may be picked up at the Museum after October 3.
