Paint the Park Green, at Glen Echo Park
Presented by The Friends of the Yellow Barn Studio
A “green” landscape painting competition with the mission of preserving and protecting America’s national parks to help build better futures for families, children and our planet. The Paint Out is designed to educate and inspire artists to become more environmentally aware and health conscious with their materials and methods in creating art.

Painting competition - Saturday Oct. 22nd, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30p.m. and Sunday Oct. 23rd 9:00am -3:00pm
Jurying - Sunday Oct. 23rd 3:00- 4:00pm
Reception - 4:30-6:00pm
Awards Ceremony - 5:00pm-5:30pm
“Green” Videos focusing on paint conservation, disposal of toxic materials, and substitutions for toxic
materials will be available at:

Where do we paint?
The setting for the event will be Glen Echo Park, a magical place situated on the Potomac Palisades near
Bethesda, Maryland. Originally a Chautauqua retreat, then an amusement park, this National Park is now
host to a variety of arts, environmental and history programs.

Each participant may show one painting, framed and wired for hanging. “Best in Show” will receive a $500 prize, 2nd place $250, and 3rd place $100. A $500 prize will also be awarded for the best painting done using
our “green check list” for environmentally sound practices. All entries must be framed before jurying.
The cost of participation in the paint out will be $25 for members of Friends of the Yellow Barn and $50 for
non-members. New members are eligible for the member rate. On arrival for the paint out, participants will
receive a Yellow Barn tote bag including samples of paints and products provided by paint-out sponsors.
